Hartley is an international lighting designer and theatre consultant whose experience includes Broadway, West End, major UK producing companies, and theatres and arts venues in Europe, North America, Australia and worldwide.
Hartley's work includes designs for the National Theatre of Great Britain and Royal Shakespeare Company (London, Stratford and international), in theatres in London's West End, and for London producing theatres including the Almeida, BAC, Bush, Donmar Warehouse, Finborough, Gate, Hampstead, King's Head, Lyric Hammersmith, Menier Chocolate Factory, New End, Old Vic, Royal Court, Southwark Playhouse, Theatre Royal Stratford East and Tricycle. Regional UK work includes Paines Plough, Theatre Royal Bath Productions, Bristol Old Vic, Birmingham Rep, Clwyd Theatre Cymru, Northcott Theatre Exeter, Sheffield Theatres, Manchester Royal Exchange, West Yorkshire Playhouse, and UK touring. Opera includes Royal Opera House Linbury Studio, Opera Holland Park, Castleward Opera Northern Ireland, and Queen Elizabeth Hall.
